Lulled by the man's deep voice and even breathing, Aurora Sterling, who hadn't fully woken up, sank back into a deep sleep.
About half an hour later, Sean Carter called.
Damien Valerius opened his eyes. He first glanced at Aurora Sterling, still sleeping soundly in his arms, before quickly answering the phone.
"Boss, it's about time. We should be heading out," Sean Carter said cautiously. 'He knew perfectly well that calling at this hour was bound to disturb his boss. But sometimes, his hands were tied. Serving a man like him was like living with a tiger…'
"Got it." Damien Valerius put down his phone. After gently rubbing his temples, he pushed aside the covers and rose from the bed.
He had indeed drunk a bit too much last night. That, combined with punishing Aurora Sterling for so long, had left his body feeling the strain.
