Yvonne Vaughn knew full well that Joanna Jacobs was a proud young woman, and she had a pretty good idea where her affections lay. In the beginning, she had indeed intended to set Joanna up with her own son.
But now, Damien Valerius and Aurora Sterling's relationship was stable, and they were, for all intents and purposes, an officially engaged couple. Since Joanna Jacobs had never openly declared her feelings for Damien or her desire to be with him, Yvonne could only play dumb about the whole thing.
She hoped Joanna could get over these feelings on her own and one day find a love that was truly hers.
Back in her hotel room, Joanna Jacobs walked listlessly to the sofa, casually tossed her bag onto the floor, and then, as if she had lost her very soul, collapsed onto the couch.
