Seeing the look on Joanna Jacobs's face, Sean Carter assumed she was just worried about Damien Valerius's health. He figured she wanted him to get back to Damien's side as soon as possible.
Sean Carter smiled and nodded. "Alright, I'll head back now. Feel free to contact me if you need anything."
"Okay!" Joanna Jacobs replied crisply. In that moment, her usual aloofness toward Sean Carter seemed to vanish. A subtle urgency flickered in her eyes, betraying her desire for him to leave as quickly as possible.
None the wiser, Sean Carter turned, got into his car, and drove away.
Only when she was certain Sean Carter's car had driven far out of sight did Joanna Jacobs let out a heavy sigh of relief. She then quickly entered the hotel.
Her phone rang continuously on her way to her room, but Joanna Jacobs didn't answer.
It wasn't until she was back in the presidential suite on an upper floor, with the door securely closed, that she quickly pulled her phone from her purse.
