Liam Valerius was unmoved by Julia Keane's threat. "Then go ahead and die. Maybe if you're dead, the Old Master will forgive me!"
"You—" Julia Keane's crying came to an abrupt halt. She stared at Liam Valerius in disbelief. 'He's actually telling me to die?'
Liam Valerius sank onto the sofa, full of resentment. "In any case, the Old Master's birthday banquet—the one meant to ward off disaster—has been ruined. If anything unfortunate happens to him from now on, he'll blame it on you and me. We'll be dead then either way. We might as well die now and get it over with!"
Julia Keane was stunned. She had been so caught up in her own grievances that she had completely forgotten the ultimate purpose of today's banquet.
It was only after Liam Valerius said that that it dawned on her.
'He's right!!'
At that, Julia Keane could no longer afford to wallow in her self-pity. She stopped crying, and her face fell. "What do we do then…?"
