Once they sat down in the dining room, Aiden finally let go of her hand.
Mindy Miller had asked the kitchen to prepare a table laden with food. She greeted Aiden with a smile, "Please, make yourself at home. It's your first time visiting, so I wasn't sure what you like to eat. I hope you find something to your taste."
"You're too kind. I'm not a picky eater."
"Laura, hurry and get some food for Aiden. You silly girl."
Now that her mom had spoken, Laura had no choice but to do as she was told. She turned to the man beside her. "What would you like to eat?"
"I like whatever you like."
Laura's face instantly flushed red. 'This man is getting more and more shameless. He's always flirting with me, and so deadpan about it, too.'
Throughout the meal, Laura barely had to lift a finger. Aiden peeled her crayfish, deboned her fish, and even thoughtfully picked the few sprigs of cilantro out of her soup.
