Hannah Hale laughed and hiccuped drunkenly, her words slurred. "I met a... friend. He's gonna take... take me home... Bye-bye."
"What friend? A guy or a girl—"
Before Zachary Redgrave could finish, a mechanical tone sounded from the receiver.

Laura Lowell, having just left the restaurant, was so full that she stopped in her tracks after only a few steps.
"What's wrong?"
Aiden Shaw turned to look at the girl behind him, his voice as gentle as a warm breeze.
"I can't walk. I'm so full from dinner."
Aiden Shaw took a step closer to her, his slender, pale fingers gently brushing against her cheek. Under the warm orange glow of the streetlights, his eyes, as vast as a starry sky, were filled with nothing but doting affection.
"I'll give you a piggyback."
A dimpled smile graced Laura Lowell's lips as she stood on her tiptoes and gave him a quick peck on the corner of his mouth. "That's your reward."
