After everyone was seated, Laura Lowell glanced around. "Where's Nancy? I don't see her anywhere."
Peach had been so absorbed in the fireworks that she hadn't noticed where Nancy went. "I'll go check the tent. Maybe she's sleeping."
Peach had only taken a few steps when Aiden Shaw's phone rang. The screen showed Nancy's number.
"Hello? Where did you go?"
"Shaw, I'm lost! You have to come save me, it's so dark here."
Nancy's voice, tinged with sobs, came from the other end of the line.
"Send me your location right now—"
Before Aiden Shaw could finish, the line went dead, leaving only a mechanical BEEP-BEEP-BEEP.
When he tried calling back, Nancy's phone was already off. The battery must have died.
Seeing the dark expression on Aiden Shaw's face, Laura Lowell asked worriedly, "What on earth happened to Nancy?"
"She's lost, and her phone is off."
"That girl, always wandering off. We need to go find her, quickly."
