Aiden Shaw tightened his grip on her hand slightly, pulling her into his arms. "Forgive me. Don't be mad anymore."
Laura Lowell was caught completely off guard. She looked up, their eyes meeting, as his gentle voice still lingered in her ears.
"How about I lie in bed and have another man bring me my meals? What do you think?"
"Don't even think about it."
Aiden Shaw blurted out, his tone firm and leaving no room for discussion.
"Exactly. So, please, Dr. Shaw, try to see it from my perspective. I'm genuinely angry, so you'd better not provoke me right now."
Aiden Shaw suddenly smiled, the faint amusement quickly reaching the corners of his eyes.
"The fact that you're this angry just proves how much you care about me. But I swear, there's really nothing going on between me and Naomi Neal, and I'll keep my distance from her in the future."
"I know there's nothing between you two, but I'm just so angry. And I don't want to talk to you right now."
