At that, the voice from the phone stopped abruptly.

Laura Lowell was so nervous she felt like her brain was running out of oxygen. Her breathing grew erratic, and her mind went completely blank.
"Still thinking of backing out?"

Laura Lowell's face was so red it looked like it might bleed, and her ears were burning hot.
