"That's okay, I can do it myself. You can go back to what you were doing."
With Ethan Shaw and Nancy still around, Laura Lowell was too embarrassed to let him cut her fingernails for her.
"I'm not busy right now."
Aiden Shaw lowered his head, gently lifting her hand. He began to trim her nails with great concentration. "A few days ago, I asked a friend overseas to buy a bag for you," he said. "It's that dark green one you love. It's arrived and is sitting in the break room."
A faint, misty smile graced Laura Lowell's eyes. She leaned close to Aiden Shaw's ear and planted a soft kiss on his cheek. "Thank you, darling."
Sharp-eyed Nancy caught the moment Laura Lowell kissed Aiden Shaw and clutched her chest dramatically, as if the public display of affection was physically painful. "Oh, for heaven's sake, do you two have to be so shameless?"
"Flaunting your love like that... have some mercy! What's a poor single soul like me supposed to do with all this?"
