In the car, Hannah Hale felt a light touch and groggily opened her eyes. "We're here? Why didn't you wake me up?"
"Exhausted from work? Do you want to take a few days off to rest?"
Morgan Joyce rested one hand on the steering wheel while using the other to smooth down a few stray strands of Hannah Hale's hair. His gaze fell upon the necklace around her neck, and a smile touched his lips.
'She always wore the birthday gift he gave her.'
"I was in surgery all day, so I'm definitely a little tired. I'll be fine after a good night's sleep."
Hannah Hale unbuckled her seatbelt, opened the car door, and got out.
Nathan Redgrave was standing not far away, where she could see him at a glance.
Morgan Joyce got out of the car as well, striding over to Hannah Hale's side with one hand in his pocket. When he saw her staring blankly into the distance, he followed her gaze, and his usually gentle and refined expression darkened slightly.
"Want to go say hello?"
