Laura Lowell smiled and nodded. "Thank you."
"Senior, over here."
Seeing her senior walk in through the door, Laura Lowell smiled and waved.
Her senior and Laura exchanged a smile as the woman walked over. "Sorry, Laura. The traffic was awful, so I'm late."
"It's okay. I just got here myself."
Her senior sat down across from Laura and picked up the juice on the table, taking several large gulps. "I was dying of thirst."
Laura Lowell waved a waiter over and ordered another juice and a dessert for her senior.
"By the way, Senior, was there something specific you wanted to see me about today?"
"I went to the hospital for a check-up a few days ago, and they told me I'm pregnant. That means I can't be your bridesmaid at the wedding. I'm so sorry."
Laura forked a small piece of cake into her mouth, her clear eyes crinkling with a smile. "That's all right. But didn't you say you wanted to focus on your career and hold off on having a baby for now?"
