A thought struck Vera Xavier, and she immediately pushed the door open. She froze on the spot. Her room had been completely ransacked, and the clothes that were once neatly packed in her trunk had been pulled out and thrown around.
All the clothes and shoes Nathaniel Nathan had given her were gone. Her old clothes were tossed on the bed. The zippers on the trunk had all been opened, and it looked as if every single crevice had been meticulously searched.
Vera Xavier took a deep breath and lifted up her bed. The items she kept underneath were also in disarray. Fortunately, the stone was still there. She let out a sigh of relief.
As long as the stone was still there, nothing else was a big deal.
She had always been poor and never had much money. She kept the money Zachary Preston had given her in her backpack, carrying it with her at all times. Otherwise, it would have surely been taken.
