When Master Nathan first took back a chess move, Vera Xavier figured she should let him, as he was her elder. She never expected him to get completely carried away, like a car with no brakes. As soon as she made her move, he would immediately take his back.
Eventually, she grew tired of it. She grabbed Master Nathan's hand and declared, "Grandpa, no take-backs!"
Nathaniel Nathan chimed in from the sidelines. "I told you not to play chess with Grandpa. He's a terrible sport. If you enjoy playing, we can have a game."
Master Nathan huffed, "You little rascal, get out of here. Go focus on your tea."
The game devolved into a complete mess. Vera Xavier was genuinely worn out by Master Nathan's playing style. She never intended to win against him, but with him constantly taking back his moves, it became incredibly difficult for her to even try and lose.
