Vera Xavier hated the look in Cara Preston's eyes. She shifted, using her own body to block Cara's line of sight. "Mom's finished making dinner. Let's go back and eat!"
Cara Preston was terribly disappointed that she could no longer see Nathaniel Nathan's back, but she couldn't afford to be too obvious about it. Biting her lip lightly, she looked at Vera Xavier and asked, "Nathan seems to be paying a lot of attention to you, sis."
Zachary Preston explained from the side, "You came back late, so you might not know. Your sister saved Master Nathan, so she's now a benefactor of the Nathan Family. It's perfectly normal for Nathaniel to pay a little more attention to her."
Cara Preston asked in utter astonishment, "When did sis save Master Nathan? How come I've never heard you mention it before?"
Vera Xavier replied, "Master Nathan had his attack on the very day I returned home, so there was no chance to tell you."
