"Yeah, I saw him," Vera Xavier answered quite calmly.
Shane Caldwell had expected her to get all excited at the mention of Nathaniel Nathan, just like any other girl, and had braced himself. But after a moment, all he got was that one sentence. He couldn't help but ask, "That's it?"
Vera looked utterly baffled. "How else am I supposed to be?"
For some reason, her response made Shane inexplicably happy. He smiled and said, "That's great. Nathaniel Nathan isn't as amazing as all the other girls make him out to be. He's just a guy with two eyes, a nose, and a mouth."
Vera found Shane's happiness truly baffling. She gave him a sidelong glance and, seeing the shine in his eyes, couldn't resist asking, "Don't tell me you like Nathaniel Nathan, too?"
Shane was taking a sip of water at that moment. When he heard her question, he sprayed it all out. Luckily, they were sitting in the front row, so no one was in front of them.
