Isaac Shawcross didn't know whether to laugh or cry at Vera Xavier's composed demeanor. In all his decades of teaching, he'd never met a student quite like her.

Vera Xavier waved a hand dismissively without even turning her head, making her disdain for the offer perfectly clear.
Isaac Shawcross was quite pleased with Vera's attitude. "Not every student is as materialistic as you."
