Vera Xavier added, "If you think I have a bad attitude, or if you just don't want to see me, I can always give your Young Master a heads-up and have him fire you. That way, you won't have to be so conflicted."
Ronan Tate glared at her, but she just broke into a smile. "That would be perfect. I could find a handsome butler of my own to help me take care of things. You're just too ugly."
Ronan Tate was so angry he felt like hitting someone. This girl was truly infuriating! 'How am I ugly?' he fumed inwardly. 'I might not be as strikingly handsome as the Young Master, but I'm still a good-looking guy!'
He muttered sullenly, "How could the Young Master possibly like a girl like you! I'm going to tell him what you said."
"A grown man, and you're going to tattle?" Vera Xavier said nonchalantly. "But by all means, go complain about me to Nathaniel Nathan. We can even make a bet on it and see whether he believes you or me."
