Vera Xavier was familiar with Nathaniel Nathan's way of speaking, so she wasn't too surprised by his words. Getting him to praise her to her face was next to impossible. So she smiled and said, "Is that so? Well then, Nathaniel Nathan, I'll work on becoming more and more worthy of you."
Nathaniel Nathan gave a faint smile, led her out of the villa, and went straight to the People's Department Store.
Vera Xavier asked curiously, "Are your parents here? Aren't we going straight to your home?"
Nathaniel Nathan's tone was flat. "Vera Xavier, I have some good news for you. Try not to get too excited."
Vera Xavier looked at him, puzzled. 'What good news could he possibly have for me right now?'
Then she heard him say, "Actually, I never arranged to meet my parents. I wasn't planning on taking you to see them today. Everything I said last night was just to tease you."
Vera Xavier's eyes went wide as saucers. 'I really want to curse him out!
