Vera Xavier looked at Nathaniel Nathan with a wronged expression and said, "Of course not! I don't normally dress up like this, so I don't usually have so many people staring at me!"
'That's right. I'm doing this on purpose to annoy him,' she thought. 'Serves him right for teasing me!'
Nathaniel gave her a cold look. She sighed again and said, "It's all your fault for making me look so pretty!"
Nathaniel Nathan: "..."
'So it's my fault now?'
He said in a cold voice, "I dressed you up like this for *me* to see, not for other men. And another thing, why were you smiling at them?"
Vera looked even more aggrieved. "Nathaniel, that's such tyrannical logic! You're the one who wanted me to dress up and come out, but now you're saying no one else can look? That's completely unreasonable! Besides, I wasn't smiling *at* them. They were just greeting me, and as a civilized and polite upstanding citizen, smiling back is just basic courtesy. What part of that is wrong?"
