Fiona Wright chimed in, "Then, for some reason, I heard that the girl giving the speech as the freshman representative ended up being someone named Susan Caldwell."
"Susan Caldwell? It's no big deal, just a minor thing," Vera Xavier said with a faint smile. She wasn't very interested in being in the spotlight.
Shirley Ewing said with a laugh, "You're so nonchalant. How is this a 'minor thing'? You have no idea how many people would kill to be in the spotlight like that!"
Fiona Wright countered, "Vera's the one who got a perfect score in every subject. Why would she care about something so trivial? Personally, I think having to prepare and give a speech is too much of a headache. I'd rather just get a good night's sleep in the dorm."
"If you keep sleeping, you're going to turn into a pig!" Shirley Ewing made a face at her. The two of them had been inseparable for the past two days and had grown close enough to exchange some harmless banter.
