To Laura White, every word was a trap. She had been about to voice her anger, but Vera Xavier's comment made her swallow it all back down. She pulled the covers up, burying even her head beneath them.
Shirley Ewing chimed in at the perfect moment. "Some people have sky-high ambitions but can't be bothered to weigh their own worth. They spend all day fantasizing about being the baddest bitch on the planet, only to get a harsh slap in the face from reality. How pathetic, how laughable. If I were a certain someone, I'd either drop out or just go kill myself."
Vera Xavier's lips curled into a slight smile. 'The real reason I didn't have the dean expel Laura White was to torment her properly. After everything Laura did to plot against me, did she really think she could get off with a simple expulsion and just walk away? As if!'
