Gu'er had no idea there was someone behind her. With her face twisted in agony, Zhou Feng'er's cries of pain had captured all of Gu'er's attention, so she hadn't heard the footsteps approaching from behind at all.
By the time she realized what was happening, it was too late. A cloth was clamped over her mouth, and her body was thrown backward. As she fell, someone seized one of her legs and lifted it.
Gu'er knew it was Zhou Feng'er who had lifted her leg, as she was in just the right spot.
Only then did Gu'er understand. She'd been set up. Set up by Zhou Feng'er.
It wasn't that Zhou Feng'er's scheme was particularly brilliant; she had simply pinpointed Zhou Gu'er's weakness. In that family, the only person Gu'er cared about was Li Hua. If Li Hua was in trouble, Gu'er would never ignore it. She would have to go and see.
