In the afternoon, Holly Winslow had three math classes back-to-back, from three o'clock until six. It was just enough time to go over an entire exam paper.
The class she was teaching was normally Sandra Marshall's. It was considered an intermediate-level class at the tutoring center, with forty students whose grades were neither particularly good nor bad.
When the bell rang, the students were still whispering amongst themselves, but as soon as they saw her walk in, they immediately sat up straight.
She entered the room and placed the graded math papers on the desk. In a voice that wasn't overly strict, she began her analysis, "The results from this test weren't great across the board, but don't be discouraged when you see your scores."
"You've only just been introduced to first-year high school material, so this is completely normal."
