All they saw was Ashley Bowen rushing into the rain. Sean chased after her, taking off his own jacket and desperately trying to shield her with it.
"What on earth happened?" Vivian Lee put Nia down.
"I just heard Sean say that the Imperial Concubine's mother... seems to have passed away..."
"What? Passed away?" Vivian Lee's legs went weak, as if she'd been struck by lightning.
'Just a few hours ago, I told Shay about my own parentage. It hasn't even been two hours, and Aunt Preston is dead?'
"Help me take care of the two kids!" With that, Vivian Lee also rushed out into the rain.
Outside, the thunder went BOOM! RUMBLE!
Nia was crying nonstop. Gordon held her tightly, murmuring reassurances, "Don't be scared, don't be scared. Big brother will protect you."
The rain grew heavier. By the time Ashley Bowen arrived at the hospital, she was soaked to the bone and dripping water everywhere.
She was still wearing the jacket Sean had given her, but it was completely soaked through.
