Gazing into his deep, gentle eyes, she thought, 'He's always the one giving me things. Shouldn't I get something for him?'
She hadn't touched the five hundred thousand from selling the ring. That money was originally meant for her escape, but now, she felt hesitant.
'Would it be unfair to him to use the money from something he gave me as my getaway fund?'
She looked at his neck, bare without a tie, and smiled. "Miles, how about I knit a scarf for you?"
"Oh? You know how to do that? I always thought you were a tomboy who didn't know the first thing about girly stuff." He teased her with a smile, though he knew full well what kind of life she'd led after her father passed away. She was excellent at everything from laundry to cooking.
So when she said she could knit a scarf, he wasn't surprised at all. He just wanted to tease her a little.
