The doctor performed a skin test on her, and after confirming she wasn't allergic, prepared the injection.
"Time for your shot. Sit here."
The female doctor brought over a high stool and gestured for her to sit. She knew what this meant—it was time for a shot in the butt.
But she had been afraid of getting shots there ever since she was a child. Back then, she would have to tightly grip her mother's hand. Ever since her mother passed away, she hadn't dared to get another shot in the butt.
"Can't you give it in my arm like before?"
"Of course not. That was just the skin test. This is an intramuscular injection. For something like tetanus, we need it to work fast, so it has to be in your butt."
"I see..." Joan Shaw rubbed the back of her neck. She was used to being a tomboy and could face anything with bravado, but shots were her one weakness.
Miles Xavier, watching from the side, chuckled. "Scared?"
"Who said I'm scared? Go ahead, Doctor." Joan Shaw sat down on the high stool.
