'Wait a second, I think I'm focusing on the wrong thing!'
Claire Sinclair asked in astonishment, "So, I was kidnapped and brought here because those people are actually after that massive fortune, and they think I know where it is?"
Adrian Quincy nodded.
Claire Sinclair said irritably, "If I knew that kind of money existed, why would I still be working as a reporter? I would've hired a team of miners and gone to dig up the treasure chest ages ago. Honestly!"
Her vexed but adorable expression made Adrian Quincy chuckle, but he still had to remind her, "You were the only person your sister called before she died. It's perfectly understandable why some people might think she told you about this."
"But besides asking how I was doing, my sister never told me anything about her work. Not a single thing."
"I believe you, Claire."
Claire Sinclair pouted. "It doesn't matter if you believe me. They're the ones who don't. Does this mean they're going to kidnap me again?"
