The next day, Annabelle Leighton slept in until nine-thirty.
As soon as she opened her eyes, it felt like a bomb was buried in her temples.
She had a meeting at the studio that morning. She struggled up from the sofa, and as she did, the blanket draped over her waist slid to the floor.
'Who covered me with a blanket?'
She vaguely remembered Shane Sterling picking her up from the bar last night. They seemed to have chatted a little on the way, but Annabelle had absolutely no memory of what they'd talked about.
'It must have been Shane Sterling who covered me.'
'That guy Shane Sterling has gotten so much more considerate since marrying Isla Prescott. I'll have to thank him next time I visit her.'
"You're awake."
A man's voice suddenly came from behind her.
Annabelle jumped in fright. She whipped her head around to see Morgan Hayes walking out of her kitchen.
"You... What are you doing here?"
Morgan Hayes's eyes darkened. "You don't remember?"
