Instantly, Luna Langley felt as if a piece of her heart had broken off.
"Then what about me?" she asked, looking at her mother. "If you leave with them, what will I do? Maybe I should just jump with you. That way, we can finally satisfy those wicked people who want our whole family dead. How does that sound?"
As Luna Langley spoke, she walked to the railing and made as if to climb it.
"Luna!" Serena Carter grabbed her daughter's hand. "Don't do this. You're still so young."
"My family is gone. Being young just means I'll have to endure the loneliness by myself for longer." Luna Langley gripped her mother's hand, holding it tight. "Mom, look at me. Do you really have the heart to leave me all alone in this world?"
Looking at her daughter, tears streamed down Serena Carter's face.
