Chapter 161
Robert's Point of View
The time had come to settle things with "The Don." I pulled out my phone with a mechanical motion and hit dial; it rang once before Carlos's voice came through: "Yes, Robert."
"Are you ready?" I asked, my eyes monitoring the road with stillness.
"I am," he replied with a strange tone, a hint of excitement I wasn't used to hearing from him.
"Fine, I'm coming," I said curtly.
I left the club and drove toward Carlos's house. Upon arrival, I found him standing at the door waiting for me, glancing left and right as if the ground couldn't hold him. I pulled up abruptly in front of him. "I see you're very eager, waiting outside!" I said mockingly as he got in beside me.
He adjusted his seat, a mysterious smile playing on his face. "I trust something that will bring me luck tonight."
I took off at high speed, expertly weaving through traffic. "Mmm... and what is it?" I asked curiously.
"It's a secret," he replied, looking out the window.
