Chapter 168 - CHAPTER 168

Consciousness returned slowly.

Not like waking from sleep.

But like being pulled from an endless depth.

Aurelia opened her eyes.

The sky above her… was real.

Not a boundless space.

Not a living path.

But the sky of the actual world.

Yet it still felt different.

Wider.

More… clear.

She drew a deep breath.

Air filled her lungs in a way that felt foreign, as if this world was no longer the same place as before she left.

The ground beneath her was cold.

Real.

Stable.

Yet within her.

She could feel everything.

Paths.

Nodes.

Balance.

All were still there.

But no longer outside.

Now… they were within her.

Aurelia slowly stood up.

Her body felt light.

Yet not without burden.

The burden was still there.

Only.

More directed.

More… controlled.

She looked around.

This place.

She knew it.

The cracked earth once filled with wild energy had now changed.

The cracks were still there.

But no longer emitted chaos.

More like scars.

Remnants of something that had passed.

Soft footsteps sounded from behind.

Aurelia did not turn around immediately.

But she knew.

Ragnar.

"Finally you're back."

His voice sounded calmer than usual.

Aurelia turned.

Ragnar stood a few meters away from her.

But.

Something was different.

His aura was no longer wild.

Still powerful.

But more… controlled.

As if he had been through something.

Kael appeared on the other side.

He crossed his arms.

"I guess we all made it in the end."

His smile was faint.

But his eyes were serious.

Orion stood a little farther away.

As always.

But this time.

His gaze was different.

Deeper.

More… understanding.

"The connection is back."

He said softly.

Aurelia nodded.

"Yes."

She could feel it.

The bond was restored.

But not like before.

Not binding.

Not forcing.

But… connected.

More stable.

More balanced.

Ragnar let out a long breath.

"I don't know what you did in there…"

He smirked slightly.

"…but this world feels different."

Kael nodded.

"Calmer."

Orion added,

"But that doesn't mean it's safe."

Aurelia looked at each of them one by one.

"We're not done yet."

She said.

Silence fell.

But no one was surprised.

Ragnar smiled.

"Of course not."

Kael let out a small laugh.

"If this were over, it would be too easy."

Orion remained serious.

"The question is… what comes next?"

Aurelia did not answer right away.

She closed her eyes.

Feeling the world.

And this time.

She could feel everything.

Not just one area.

But the entire network.

The nodes.

Most were stable.

But.

There were still some.

Farther away.

Deeper.

More… hidden.

"Something remains unfinished."

She opened her eyes.

Her gaze was sharp.

"And it's not just a small remnant."

Ragnar was immediately interested.

"Where?"

Aurelia turned toward the horizon.

Far away.

Very far away.

But it felt clear.

"A place untouched before."

She said softly.

Kael narrowed his eyes.

"Part of the old system that wasn't connected?"

Orion nodded.

"Wild zones."

Aurelia agreed.

"And now… they're starting to react."

The wind blew.

Colder.

Carrying something invisible.

But felt.

Ragnar clenched his fists.

"Good."

His smile returned.

"It's been too long since I've waited for a new opponent."

Kael sighed.

"Hopefully this time it's not something we can't understand."

Orion looked into the distance.

"If this is outside the system…"

He said softly.

"…we have no references."

Aurelia stepped forward.

Her steps firm.

"If there are no references…"

She said.

"…we create them."

Silence.

But this time.

Full of confidence.

They began to walk.

But not like before.

Not in a rush.

Not panicked.

Their steps were directed.

In harmony.

As if they had been through something that changed how they saw everything.

This journey was no longer about surviving.

But about understanding.

Guarding.

Shaping.

Yet.

A few steps later.

Aurelia stopped.

Suddenly.

The others were immediately alert.

"What is it?"

Ragnar asked.

Aurelia did not answer right away.

Her eyes fixed on one point.

In the distance.

The ground there.

Moved.

Not a crack.

Not a node.

But something that… rose up.

Kael narrowed his eyes.

"What is that…"

Orion understood immediately.

"It's not part of the network."

Aurelia nodded gently.

"It's something born after the change."

The ground lifted.

Slowly.

And from within it.

A figure emerged.

Taller than a human.

But not like the creatures before.

More solid.

More real.

And its aura.

Different.

Not chaotic.

Not wild.

But not stable either.

Like something newly learning to… exist.

Ragnar grinned widely.

"Finally."

But Aurelia raised her hand.

Stopping him.

"Don't."

Her voice was firm.

Ragnar frowned.

"Why?"

Aurelia stared at the figure.

Seriously.

"It's not an enemy."

Silence.

But the figure began to move.

Its steps heavy.

But not aggressive.

Its eyes.

If they could be called eyes.

Watched them.

With… confusion.

Kael whispered softly.

"Like a newborn child."

Orion nodded.

"But with great power."

Aurelia stepped forward.

Alone.

Approaching the figure.

Ragnar wanted to follow.

But Kael stopped him.

"Trust her."

Aurelia stopped a few meters from the figure.

Light appeared on her body.

But not attacking.

Gentle.

Calm.

The figure stopped.

Watching her.

No words were spoken.

But there was communication.

Subtle.

Deep.

Aurelia understood.

This was not a threat.

This was… a consequence.

From a changing world.

And if not guided.

It could become something dangerous.

She slowly raised her hand.

Gold-white light flowed.

Touching the air between them.

Not directly to the figure.

Giving space.

Giving choice.

"Calm…"

She said softly.

The figure shifted slightly.

Not backing away.

But not approaching either.

As if hesitant.

Aurelia did not force it.

She waited.

A few seconds passed.

Then—

The figure stepped.

One step forward.

Coming closer.

The light touched it.

And for a moment.

The energy around it trembled.

But did not burst.

Did not become chaotic.

But… adjusted.

Aurelia looked at it.

"This is a new world."

She said softly.

"And you are part of it."

Silence.

But this time.

There was a response.

The figure bowed slightly.

Not out of submission.

But out of… acceptance.

Ragnar exhaled.

"Alright then…"

He smiled.

"…this is definitely different."

Kael let out a small laugh.

"We're not fighting anymore."

Orion looked at Aurelia.

"We're guiding."

Aurelia slowly lowered her hand.

The light faded.

But the connection remained.

She turned toward the horizon again.

There was still much to do.

Still far to go.

But now.

She was not alone.

They were all there.

And this world.

Was no longer on the brink of destruction.

But on the brink of change.

And they.

Were the guardians of that change.
