Chapter 80 - The Monster

I don't know what came over me. I can't even explain it clearly, but the second I realized the danger—the wolves, the rogues—surrounding them, all rational thought vanished. Every instinct, every shred of awareness, focused on one undeniable truth: Aurelian and Elias were in danger.

The two people I love most in this world. That's it. That's all that mattered. Nothing else existed. Not the odds. Not their number. Not the fact that Aurelian was one of the most powerful witches alive and that he is more than capable of protecting himself. I needed to protect them, both.

I felt the surge in my veins, the wild, raw need to protect, to annihilate the threat before it could touch them. My body responded before my mind could even catch up. My muscles tensed, my spine arched, and an unrelenting heat spread through me. I could feel my bones and sinew reshaping, stretching, compressing, and elongating.
