-Aurelian Salvatore:
We stood there, unmoving, as Sebastian shifted back into his human form.
The forest was still ringing with the echoes of snarls and snapping bones, with the metallic scent of blood hanging thick in the air. And in the center of it all was he.
The transformation was slow this time. Not rushed. Not violent like it had been when he'd leapt into the fight. It was controlled—deliberate. His massive wolf frame trembled once before it began to fold inward. Bones compressed with a muted series of cracks. Fur receded gradually, melting back into skin. Claws shortened, curving back into blunt human nails. His spine realigned, shoulders narrowing, jaw shrinking as fangs dulled into teeth.
Even as he became human again, the power didn't leave him.
It clung to him.
It hovered in the air around him like heat rising off scorched earth.
