"Phew. Thank you, Beedrill," Raj said as he finally reacted and gently stroked Beedrill's head.
Only then did he realize his back was soaked with cold sweat.
"Beedrill, Haunter, Muk, use Double Team," Raj shouted after steadying himself.
Instantly the battlefield filled with multiple afterimages of the three Pokémon.
The three attackers immediately issued their own commands.
"Mightyena, use Snarl."
"Swoobat, use Psychic."
"Golbat, use Air Slash."
"Arbok, use Slam."
The battle erupted again and the sound of attacks echoed continuously across the field.
"Hmph. Even if I die today, I won't let you defeat me so easily," Raj said coldly.
In a battle like this, even the smallest distraction could decide life or death.
Raj continued issuing commands calmly.
Even though Haunter, Muk, and Beedrill were already covered in wounds, none of them retreated.
Raj understood there was no escape left.
Neither did his Pokémon.
This was the bond between a Trainer and Pokémon. When both sides invested their trust and emotions into each other, their strength increased beyond normal limits.
Suddenly Swoobat's movement slowed.
A sharp light flashed across Raj's eyes.
"Haunter, use Dark Pulse."
Under the cover of Double Team, Haunter flashed behind Swoobat and fired a wave of dark energy.
The attack struck directly.
After a loud explosion, Swoobat fell from the air and lost the ability to battle.
At the same time Muk quietly moved underground during the chaos and used Dig to defeat Arbok.
Raj then focused his attention on Mightyena.
This Mightyena was clearly the strongest among the enemy Pokémon.
It was fast, experienced, and had multiple attack types.
More importantly, it directly countered Haunter's type advantage.
"This kid really is strong. No wonder the higher-ups warned us repeatedly about him," one of the Team Rocket members said quietly.
The three attackers exchanged glances.
The killing intent in their eyes grew even stronger.
This was only someone who had recently begun his journey.
If he survived today, his future strength would become even more terrifying.
At first they had only intended to complete their mission.
Now they had another reason.
Raj had to die here.
"Mightyena, use Howl, then Sucker Punch."
"Golbat, use Mean Look, then Aerial Ace."
"Beedrill, use Pin Missile. Haunter, Dark Pulse. Muk, Sludge Bomb," Raj shouted.
All three Pokémon attacked at full strength.
After a powerful explosion, smoke spread across the battlefield.
When the dust cleared, the attackers stared forward coldly.
Beedrill lay on the ground.
Haunter floated weakly nearby.
Muk was nowhere to be seen.
"Kid, your talent and strength are impressive, but unfortunately you ran into us," they said confidently.
They stepped forward slowly toward Raj.
Raj's face became paler with every step they took closer.
Seeing this, the three attackers believed victory was already theirs.
Completing this mission would greatly improve their status.
After all, in their eyes, Team Rocket and even Team Plasma meant nothing compared to the mysterious lord they served.
Just as they approached, their leader suddenly stopped walking.
"Something is wrong. This kid stayed calm even earlier when things were worse. Why does he suddenly look terrified now?"
Raj's lips slowly curled into a cold smile.
"Did you only realize that now? Haven't you noticed Muk is missing?"
"Damn it. It's a trap," one of them shouted.
Before they could react, Muk burst out from underground.
Muk immediately leaped into the air and used Body Slam.
All three attackers were knocked unconscious instantly.
Raj finally relaxed after seeing them collapse.
As the tension left his body, dizziness hit him and he dropped to the ground.
That battle had consumed too much of his strength.
"You all did well. Haunter, Beedrill, Muk," Raj said with a tired smile while gently patting them.
"Return. You worked hard," he said while recalling Beedrill and Muk.
He slowly stood up again and looked at the three unconscious attackers lying in front of him.
A trace of hesitation appeared in his eyes.
Should he eliminate them?
The hesitation lasted only a moment.
Raj's expression quickly turned cold.
In this world danger could appear at any time.
Many organizations committed terrible acts while pretending to stand for justice.
Raj could not change that.
But anyone who tried to kill him would pay the price.
Since arriving in this world, the System's influence and the situations he had experienced were gradually changing him.
He was becoming more ruthless.
Just as Raj prepared to act, sudden applause echoed from above.
Raj frowned and looked up.
It's over.
