Crunch!
Bucky Barnes pulled the heavy metal door open with his mechanical arm, and Steve Rogers followed behind him, quietly taking in the sight.
As soon as Steve stepped into the Hydra base, the familiar mechanical voice of the system rang in his head.
"Ding! Mission triggered: Cattle and Horse Subordinates!"
"One hero needs three helpers, and one fence needs three stakes. If you want to take it easy, you'll need hardworking subordinates!"
"Objective: Release the five unbrainwashed Winter Soldiers, defeat them, and conquer them with fists and virtue!"
"Reward: Upgrade the Favorability Aura to Loyalty Aura."
Loyalty Aura: Subordinates will maintain unwavering loyalty and never betray you. Their dedication increases with rewards, guidance, and recognition. The higher their loyalty, the harder they will work.
At the bottom of the message, a small line of text caught Steve's eye:
Not everyone can be a subordinate. Individuals or creatures who cannot serve can still become friends.
Steve smiled thoughtfully. This was perfect timing. Capturing and converting the five remaining Winter Soldiers would be a huge advantage.
He could act as both villain and hero—causing chaos in the shadows, while gaining fame and goodwill in the light.
Two birds with one shield.
After all, as Captain America, he couldn't be seen doing anything "evil," right?
When Bucky switched on the power, dim lights flickered to life, illuminating the long-forgotten Hydra facility.
The hall was covered in dust. Old tables, cracked chairs, and faded Soviet banners gave the illusion of an abandoned military base.
A faded map on the wall showed various rooms—canteen, kitchen, tool room, weapon storage, training ground, and command center. But Steve knew better. It was all a façade, designed to mislead intruders.
If someone stumbled in, they'd assume it was just a derelict Soviet outpost, long abandoned after the fall of the USSR.
But Hydra's cunning ran deep.
Bucky activated a hidden panel. The conference table split open, revealing a concealed freight elevator beneath it.
Steve nodded approvingly. Typical Hydra—meticulous and deceptive.
He was now more determined than ever to inherit Hydra's legacy and take control of its power.
He no longer wanted to be a pawn of governments and agendas. Every villain that appeared brought bloodshed, and every battle against them cost innocent lives.
When people could no longer tolerate the collateral damage caused by superpowered beings, the Sokovia Accords were born—to control and regulate heroes.
Steve refused to be a puppet again. He would be the one moving the pieces, not being moved by them.
Hydra's legacy would be his foundation.
The elevator rumbled downward for nearly a minute before stopping with a metallic clank. The doors opened, revealing an underground laboratory preserved in mid-20th-century Soviet style—bare, functional, and utterly cold.
Five large cryogenic chambers stood in a row, frost clinging to their surfaces. Each contained a dormant Winter Soldier, connected to the icy tundra outside to maintain their freezing temperature.
A self-sustaining system. Efficient. Ruthless.
According to the data Steve found, these five were super soldiers among super soldiers—physically stronger than Bucky, fluent in over thirty languages, and trained in assassination, infiltration, and guerrilla tactics.
Their only flaw: severe aggression and unstable emotions.
Before they were injected with the serum, each had been an elite Hydra agent, handpicked for perfection.
"Bucky," Steve ordered calmly, "close the door and guard the exit. No one gets out."
He sat down at the control terminal, fingers flying over the keyboard.
One by one, the cryo pods hissed open.
The five Winter Soldiers awoke from their long sleep, smashing through the frosted glass. Their breath came out in cold white puffs as they staggered forward, scanning their surroundings.
"If you beat me," Steve said evenly, "you're free to go. Who's first?"
He slung his shield onto his back and raised his fists, shifting into a Hung Gar stance.
His previous rewards had given him access to Tarot Martial Arts and Qigong. When combined, the two amplified his physical power beyond the limits of ordinary super soldiers.
Even a normal human, if trained long enough, could rival a super soldier through these techniques—like Shang-Chi.
Strength, speed, endurance—all multiplied exponentially.
But mastery required rare talent and years of discipline.
Steve, however, had the serum—and that made the combination devastating. At this point, only the Hulk or Thor could overpower him in hand-to-hand combat.
The five Winter Soldiers exchanged wary glances.
Though recently thawed, their bodies were still nourished and strong. They weren't weak prey—they were predators.
Among them were four men and one woman: three white, one Black, and one East Asian.
Their leader, Joseph, stood nearly two meters tall—a mountain of muscle and rage. Rumor had it that he once beat Bucky in a duel, robotic arm and all.
"Whoever stands in my way—dies!" Joseph roared, charging forward.
He covered the distance in an instant, kneeing at Steve's chest.
Bang!
Steve spun and countered with a powerful roundhouse kick, sending Joseph flying backward twenty meters—crashing into a wall so hard it dented.
He pointed at another soldier, a bearded man with a scarred jaw. "Your turn."
"Damn you!" the man spat, furious at the taunt. The serum amplified his rage, making his veins bulge. He lunged with a roar.
Hung Gar: Tiger Out of the Cage!
Steve's punch landed squarely in his ribs—crack! Half of them shattered instantly. The soldier collapsed, gasping in pain.
Two down in seconds.
The remaining three froze, suddenly far more alert.
He wasn't just strong.
He was terrifying.
Steve straightened his posture, the faint hum of power radiating from his body.
"This," he said calmly, "is only the beginning."
