Tillys POV
I sat on the bed. The mattress sagged. The springs groaned.
Then the rain started to fall and I climbed out the window.
And I ran.
The rain was cold. It soaked through my dress in seconds. It plastered my hair to my face. It dripped down my neck and into my dress.
I stopped running. Where exactly was I in a hurry to run to?
I realized I wasn't even trying to escape. I just wanted to sit in the rain.
And so,I walked barefooted.
The ground was soft and muddy. The rain was falling harder now. It was heavy. It was relentless. It was cathartic.
I found a spot beneath a tree. The branches were thin. The rain came through anyway. I didn't mind me.
I sat down. I pulled my knees to my chest.
"Hey" I whispered to my belly. "It's me. It's Mama. Do you like the rain?"
I rubbed my belly. Talking to it like it's a real person.
"When you get here. I will tell you about Ze. It's a fairytale story," I said. "There's a castle. And a princess. A stable. It's old. It's drafty.
