They returned in mostly silence, when they arrived at the Church the children were in wait. The last remaining sun light was dimming out at the time and they felt worried so they were out in the plains waiting. When they finally spotted both boys making return they ran out more on the plains relieved than ever to greet them and was filled with questions.
Xavier was shirtless, shinning from sweat, he wore a flat expression. They noticed that Zaril'n was wearing Xavier shirt, but for now they were going to ignore that, as things were missing.
Seeing that the cart was missing and other things they knew Xavier must had fought, they flashed Zaril'n a quick jealous gaze before looking back to Xavier. They had an endless amount of questions which they asked, but Xavier evaded. He was too lazy to answer and not only that he didn't know what to do about the demon boy, but at least for now he was going to keep a close eye on the boy.
The children had managed to make dinner and kept the church in order while Xavier was away, even Father too had gone out. They all ate happily that night, except for two that had a sense of weary and uneasiness in their minds.
They were even more excited with the money Xavier brought in.
The following morning Zaril'n woke up feeling a little sting in his neck and palm, the same area that was cut yesterday.
He slid himself out of bed and traveled outside, he wasn't a morning person, but these were the rules of the church.
Zaril'n passed through the hallways and through the door leading outside. The sun was up and blinding as usual, but even so he liked it. He liked the smell of the outside, he walked out further onto the tall, green grass and the cool wind greeted his skin. His mind felt refreshed.
For a moment he thought he could set his mind free, but a feeling of dread crawled up his back as he was reminded that someone knew his secret.
Zaril'n didn't see any of the children around, only trees, grass and the old fence was in sight, but he was hearing the faint muffles of their mixed voices. Whether he should run away or hide he was not sure, but for now he wanted to see what they were doing.
His decisions kept weighing each other, one side of his mind begged him to flee while the other told him it was fine for him to stay. While Zaril'n decisions were having a mental battle, his physical self had spaced out, lost in his own head while walking.
" Move out the way!" Screamed an approaching voice to warn.
" New boy! Move!"
" Huh?" Zaril'n wondered looking around. It took him a few seconds before his thoughts were chased away. The next moment he saw a large shadow that was moving over the grass at high speed.
BASHHH!!
Before he could process the situation Zaril'n felt as something collided with him, sharp edges pricking his body all over; but it wasn't anything painful, startling was what it was. A bunch of leaves crashed onto Zaril'n in a second burying him.
" Oh no! It went on the new boy!" a boy pointed seeing what had happened.
" Why didn't he move?" a little girl added feeling breathless as she ran with the two boys.
The three children were obliviously tired and sweating all over as they rushed over to the heap of leaves and started digging Zaril'n out who was already helping himself.
" What happened here?" asked a familiar voice in a semi-serous tone who had suddenly appeared.
The three children snapped upright looking at Xavier.
" Well..," trailed one of them.
" We tried…...," trailed another.
" You guys were using your Blessed Gifts weren't you," Xavier stared knowing the answer already.
" We wanted to get all the leaves gathered in one go!" one of the boys spoke up immediately.
" it's not easy to coordinate with Blessed Gifts, that's why I gave you three rakes," Xavier said holding up three fingers and he rested his other hand on his waist while making sure to put emphasis on the words 'three and rakes'.
" We were only trying," murmured Alex.
" Whatever. Just do as I said and if we finish fast enough I'll help you guys practice your Blessed Gifts. Now back to work," Xavier semi- ordered as he fanned them off.
The children were already changing colour with happiness before bouncing away.
" Ok," they said in chorus before leaving.
Xavier looked over at Zaril'n who was still surrounded by leaves, he stared at him sternly before turning.
' I'm going to meet god'
Xavier could hear the words in his ears as the memories resurfaced. The boy also had a look of determination as if it was a matter of facts.
" Jackass," Xavier cursed only allowing himself to hear.
Ever since yesterday Xavier had been ignoring the demon. He was only trying to figure out what he should do with him. His option were limited to three. One tell him to leave, two kill him or three- simply let him be.
Zaril'n didn't know what to do, everywhere the children were seen working. Zaril'n tailed behind Xavier who was alone and he was watering a few tiny green trees. Zaril'n wanted to know what those little green trees were.
" Father isn't here so we're trying to take care of everything before he returns," Xavier spoke. " Now listen I don't know what use you may be of so just sit and don't get in the way,"
Xavier stood in front of the plants and lifted his arms with his fingers opened. Zaril'n watched as water droplets slowly formed from Xavier's palms before a large cloud of it was seen above head. The same water body then started raining as Xavier was in deep concentration.
Tiny droplets of water pattered down kissing the tiny leaves of the new born trees, the water droplets also rained down getting the fluffy soil wet.
The demonstration fascinated Zaril'n as he watched with nothing, but silent admiration.
Water meeting leaves slowly and gently was a pleasant sound.
Zaril'n walked over to Xavier slowly and stretched his neck further out a bit to get a better view.
" Is this your Blessed gift?" muttered Zaril'n.
Xavier heard and was a bit annoyed. Even though Xavier was evident to kill Zaril'n yesterday Zaril'n was still amazed with the powers Xavier displayed.
At first when the boy was first brought to the church he was a silent thing, but yesterday when they nearly fought Xavier had forgotten to register his voice, and hearing it now made Xavier feel bother. And he's fluent with the human tongue.
