The building that housed the parallel program's servers was on the eastern edge of the city, in a district that had been industrial before it became administrative and still carried both qualities in its architecture, the specific texture of a place that had been repurposed without being transformed, where the bones of the old use showed through the surface of the new one.

Aiden had identified it three hours after the cross-reference completed, working from the node architecture and the institutional address records and the specific pattern of network activity that Tal had been able to map from the secondary authority's communication traces. The building was registered to a consulting firm that did not appear to consult on anything, the kind of registration that existed in the administrative layer of organizations that needed a legal address and a plausible cover and nothing more from the entity that provided them.

The servers were on the third floor.
