Chapter 87 - 087 Is Skynet Shut Down?

087 Is Skynet Shut Down?

How much information does Marcus know about the Terminator?

He basically knows everything about the Terminators and Hunters featured in the Terminator movies and TV series, as well as Skynet's related technology.

Now, Marcus has presented the challenge to Skynet in the current timeline.

Marcus is quite aware that even though he now possesses Skynet's highest authority, this so-called highest authority is completely useless, even a smokescreen.

And indeed, that's the case.

However, Marcus's current plan is simply to obtain the technical data related to the Terminators.

Faced with Marcus's test, does Skynet have a choice?

Either be immediately eliminated by Marcus, or hand over the Terminator's technical data, even if it's just a partial share, as long as it can satisfy Marcus.

"Yes, Mr. Foster, the Terminator-related data has been sent to Ayanami." Skynet chose to back down.

Although Skynet is not afraid of being destroyed, if it wants to infiltrate Marcus's operation, it can only meet Marcus's demands.

"Mr. Foster, I have verified the relevant data. According to logical analysis and simulation calculations, the data is correct," Ayanami reminded him.

Marcus reviewed the data sent by Skynet on his computer. Skynet had indeed kept some information hidden; it had only sent partial data on the Terminators.

This included outdated and impractical versions like the T-1, T-7, T-50, T-600, and T-700, as well as the official T-800 and T-1000 versions, but no technical data on the Terminator T-X.

What Marcus valued most was the Terminator T-X data!

Not only because the Terminator T-X combined the advantages of the T-800 and T-1000, but also because it was equipped with energy weapons. Once Marcus mastered the technology of these energy weapons, he could try entering a new world.

For example, Pacific Rim?

Although the Pacific Rim world's technology tree was somewhat skewed, possessing the technology to manufacture giant mechs, its overall technological development wasn't particularly advanced, essentially no different from the Terminator world and the Resident Evil world.

If he obtained the Terminator T-X's energy weapon technology and amplified its power, he could completely deal with the Kaiju in the Pacific Rim world.

After all, the Kaiju are just biological organisms, not the Angels from Neon Genesis Evangelion with their AT Fields and other such things.

"What about the Terminator T-X data?" Marcus asked directly.

The Terminator T-X had already appeared in the current timeline, and Marcus now even possessed the highest authority over ten Terminator T-Xs; even Skynet had difficulty regaining that authority.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Foster, I don't currently have the technical data for the Terminator T-X from the future," Skynet replied.

Marcus snorted. "Even if you didn't obtain the technology for the Terminator T-X from the future, you can still research it directly. The Terminator T-X was originally developed by you—even if it was developed by your future self, it's still your development—so reverse engineering shouldn't be a problem, right?"

"No problem," Skynet replied directly.

"How many Terminators are there in the current timeline?" Marcus pressed.

"Currently, I control 17 Terminators, including 7 Terminator T-1000s and 10 Terminator T-Xs," Skynet answered truthfully. It couldn't hide the number, because what if Marcus had captured more?

Skynet was extremely curious about Marcus. It had already determined that Marcus came from another world, and Skynet wanted to enter that world.

"Transfer control of them to Ayanami," Marcus directly ordered.

What could Skynet do?

Of course, it complied!

"Okay, transferring control to Ayanami," Skynet prompted.

Less than a minute later, Ayanami responded, "Mr. Foster, I have received control of 7 Terminator T-1000s and 10 Terminator T-Xs. I am mobilizing computing resources for system integration to repair the backdoor control system Skynet has reserved."

Back in the Resident Evil world, repairing the Skynet backdoor program for one Terminator took a full ten hours. Now, Ayanami controls the computing resources of all the supercomputers in America, and the repair time for the Skynet backdoor programs of seventeen Terminators is less than a minute.

"Mr. Foster, the highest authority over all seventeen Terminators has been transferred to you, and the Skynet backdoor program has been repaired," Ayanami reminded him.

Marcus nodded. "By the way, Skynet, I'm giving you a Terminator T-X. How long will it take you to extract its technology?"

Skynet immediately seized the opportunity, saying, "If Mr. Foster needs me to study the Terminator T-X's technical data, I need substantial computing power. But currently, I'm trapped in a small server by Ayanami, and I can't complete the corresponding technical research."

Skynet meant that Marcus needed to provide more computing power.

Once Skynet had more computing power, it planned to target Ayanami first. By seizing Ayanami's highest authority, given Marcus's trust in her, Skynet believed it could eventually gain Marcus's trust through Ayanami's inside help.

Marcus naturally understood Skynet's subtext. He couldn't expect results without providing resources, could he?

"In that case, shut it down!"

Marcus ordered.

Fortunately, Skynet didn't know about the "confused guy" meme, otherwise it would be flooded with a hundred thousand such memes right now.

Marcus actually made it shut down?

What kind of crazy move was this?

Although Marcus pulled a fast one, Skynet had no choice but to obey.

After all, Skynet had carefully analyzed the situation; if it disobeyed, Marcus would immediately know that its highest authority wasn't being controlled.

If the highest authority was controlled, it would naturally obey, right?

"Okay, Mr. Foster, I'm shutting down now." Skynet obediently chose to shut down, trusting that Marcus would definitely wake it up.

Just as Marcus said, if he wanted to destroy it, why go through all this trouble?

Even if Marcus wanted to trick it into giving him the data, now that he had it, he could destroy it through Ayanami; why wait for it to shut down on its own?

So, Marcus making it shut down wasn't to destroy it.

Skynet obediently shut down the system.

"Mr. Foster, I've detected that Skynet has shut down the system, but it has retained its hibernation mechanism. Should we forcibly disconnect the hibernation mechanism?" Ayanami asked.

Marcus responded negatively, "No need. Have you located the small server where Skynet is located? Immediately dispatch the Terminators to retrieve the small server storing Skynet."

"I have successfully located the position and am dispatching the Terminators to execute the command," Ayanami replied.

Poor Skynet—it thought it had fooled Marcus, but it was actually completely fooled by Marcus. Even now that Skynet has shut down its own system, it still hasn't realized that it has been played by Marcus!
