The fairy village had transformed overnight.
Soft lights floated through the air like drifting stars, casting gold and violet glows across woven branches and natural platforms shaped into elegant terraces.
Petals fell in a constant, gentle rain, dissolving into magic before ever touching the ground. Music echoed lightly through the air—something between chimes and wind—blending with laughter from thousands of gathered fairies.
At the center of it all stood the ceremony platform, formed from living branches and glowing vines.
Jax stood off to the side, taking it in.
"…This is a lot."
Brannic stood beside him, dressed in formal attire that looked only slightly out of place on a dwarf of his build. Merriweather hovered nearby, practically glowing with excitement.
"Oh, this is wonderful," she said. "I haven't seen a fairy wedding like this in ages."
Jax glanced across the gathering.
Then back at his side.
"…I've got two people."
Across from him were thousands of fairies.
All watching.
All whispering.
All very invested.
Brannic chuckled. "Quality over quantity."
Behind Jax, the Vixens stood together, dressed for the occasion as bridesmaids.
Nyxian leaned in slightly. "Don't mess this up."
Jax gave her a look. "I've fought dragons."
Nyxian smirked. "This is harder."
Bunny gave him a thumbs up. "You'll do great!"
Zee smiled softly. "Just be sincere."
Llandra crossed her arms. "And don't say anything stupid."
Jax exhaled. "…No promises."
The music shifted.
The crowd quieted.
And then they appeared.
Pixelle and Lexi floated forward together in their three-inch fairy forms, surrounded by glowing light and drifting petals.
Pixelle carried herself like royalty even at that size—confident, poised, completely in control.
Lexi stayed close to her, smiling, a little more reserved but clearly excited.
They landed in front of Jax.
Pixelle looked up at him. "You clean up well."
Jax smirked slightly. "You are as Beautiful as ever, Your Grace."
Her eyes expanded just a fraction at the compliment and title.
"Oh the Goddess. I Love You."
Merriweather floated forward, raising her hands gently as the ceremony began.
"Today, we celebrate a union not just of hearts, but of worlds."
The fairies murmured in approval.
She looked at Jax. "Jax Darquebane… do you accept this bond?"
He didn't hesitate. "Yes."
Simple.
Honest.
Very him.
Merriweather smiled. "Then present the rings."
Jax reached into his coat and pulled them out.
Two rings.
Elegant. Subtle. Glowing faintly with refined magic.
Crafted from Pixelle's scepter.
Pixelle's eyes widened slightly, but she said nothing.
Pixelle held out her hand.
Jax knelt slightly and slid the ring onto her finger.
Light burst outward instantly.
Her body expanded rapidly—three inches to one foot, to three, to five—
And stopped at 5'6".
Her wings shimmered behind her, fully formed and radiant.
Pixelle took a breath, then looked down at herself with satisfaction before turning back to Jax.
"…Oh Wow."
Jax chuckled. "Even taller now. That suits you."
He turned to Lexi.
She hesitated for just a moment before stepping forward and placing her hand in his.
The second ring slid into place.
Light surged again.
She grew—
And stopped at 5'8".
There was a pause.
A very small one.
But noticeable.
Bunny tilted her head. "Oh… she's taller."
Nyxian's lips curled into a grin. "Well now…"
Pixelle slowly turned her head.
Then looked up.
Just slightly.
"…Why is she taller?"
Jax, standing directly between them, answered before thinking.
"I don't know, but it's only two inches."
Pixelle's eyes snapped to him.
"Only?"
Jax immediately realized his mistake.
Nyxian had already turned away, shoulders shaking with silent laughter.
Zee gave him a sympathetic look.
Llandra looked thoroughly entertained.
Lexi raised her hands slightly. "I can try to shrink if you want."
Pixelle turned back to her.
"No."
Lexi blinked. "Ok."
Pixelle lifted her chin. "I am not insecure."
Nyxian coughed into her hand. "Of course not."
Pixelle pointed at her without looking. "Say it."
"I didn't say anything."
"You thought it."
Jax stepped in carefully. "To be fair… you have never looked more radiant."
Pixelle looked back at him.
That was the correct answer.
Her expression softened immediately.
"Obviously."
Lexi glanced between them. "…Am I still allowed to stand next to you?"
That broke Bunny completely.
She laughed. "Yes, Lexi, you're allowed to stand next to her."
Pixelle adjusted her posture slightly, reclaiming her composure. "For the record, I am still the queen."
Lexi nodded quickly. "Yes. Pixie...I mean Your Majesty."
"And I get Jax first." Pixelle tried to one up.
"Yes."
"And in all important ways—"
Pixelle placed a hand on her chest.
"—I am ahead."
Nyxian folded her arms, grinning. "I love her."
Llandra sighed. "This is going to be ongoing."
Zee smiled softly. "It's harmless."
Pixelle glanced at Lexi again.
"…You're not allowed to wear heels."
Lexi blinked. "I wasn't planning to."
"Good."
Jax leaned slightly toward Bunny. "She's really stuck on this."
Bunny whispered back, "It's kind of cute."
"It is not cute," Pixelle replied instantly, hearing the comments.
Nyxian smirked. "It's a little cute."
"It is regal irritation."
Lexi looked at Pixelle again, then said carefully, "…Your boobs are now larger."
Pixelle paused.
Then smiled slowly.
"Um. Yeah. Ok, you can be taller. But still, No high heels!"
Nyxian pointed. "Correct answer."
Merriweather cleared her throat, trying not to laugh.
"Shall we continue?"
Pixelle waved a hand. "Yes, yes."
Then she paused.
And turned back to Jax.
"You didn't think you were only marrying me, did you?"
Jax blinked. "…What?"
Pixelle gestured between herself and Lexi. "Both of us."
Lexi gave a small, apologetic smile. "…Surprise?"
Jax looked between them.
Then sighed.
Then smiled.
"…Yeah. Alright."
Merriweather, recovering quickly, raised her hands again.
"Then by the authority of this village…"
"And as witness to this bond…"
She smiled brightly.
"I now pronounce you bound."
For a brief moment—
There was silence.
Then—
The entire village erupted.
Lights surged through the air in radiant waves.
Magic flared like a living sky.
Thousands of fairies cheered, their voices blending into something almost musical as the celebration exploded around them.
Merriweather raised her voice above the noise, her tone shifting—formal now, ceremonial.
"By the will of the Fairy Court…"
"Pixelle remains our Queen."
She turned slightly.
"Lexi, by this bond, is recognized as First Maiden of the Court."
Lexi blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting the title—but she straightened, accepting it with a small, determined nod.
Then—
Merriweather looked at Jax.
"And Jax Darquebane…"
There was a pause.
Even the crowd seemed to quiet, just slightly.
"…is recognized as King of the Fairies."
That landed.
Brannic let out a low whistle.
"Well… that escalated."
Nyxian's grin widened.
"Oh, I like that title."
Bunny clapped excitedly. "King Jax!"
Zee smiled softly, though her eyes carried the weight of what that truly meant.
"…That's not just symbolic."
Llandra crossed her arms.
"…No. It isn't."
Jax stood there for a moment.
Processing.
Then glanced down at Pixelle.
"…You didn't mention that part."
Pixelle smiled, completely unapologetic.
"I assumed you'd know what happens marrying a Queen."
Jax sighed.
Then smirked.
"…Yeah. I guess I should have known."
He stood between them as Pixelle took one arm and Lexi took the other.
Not just a man anymore.
Not just a leader.
A King.
Brannic crossed his arms with a small nod. "Not bad."
Nyxian leaned toward Bunny. "He's in trouble."
Zee grinned. "He'll be fine."
Bunny added quietly, "They don't realize what they signed up for."
Llandra shook her head slightly. "They will learn tonight."
Pixelle leaned closer to Jax, voice just low enough for him to hear.
"…We'll talk about the height later."
Jax exhaled slowly. He had no idea why they weren't the same.
"…Of course we will."
And just like that—
The Fairy Queen had married.
The First Maiden had risen.
And Jax Darquebane…
Had become King of the Fairies.
The first Human to be declared so.
His world hadn't just grown more complicated.
It had grown more powerful.
And far more dangerous.
