Chapter 385: Sleeping Separately
Eriri did not attend the afternoon Art Club activities due to her cold. After taking leave, she returned home with Kaede.
Of course, they also bought some ingredients for dinner while passing through the shopping street. Coupled with the remaining meat at home, it was enough.
Entering the house and changing into slippers, Eriri looked at the two little ones rushing to her feet, showing a troubled expression: "Mhm... I have a cold right now, so I can't hold you. Go play with Kaede-kun!"
"Huh?"
Putting down the grocery bags, Kaede turned to Eriri and said helplessly, "There's no need to be so scared, right? I remember human colds don't spread to Cats, so you can hold it without worry."
"Really?"
"Yes, I remember reading some information that said due to species differences, cold viruses that infect humans won't spread to Cats."
Taking off his school uniform, Kaede came over, picked up Golza, and placed it directly into Eriri's arms. However, since Golza's Elizabethan collar hadn't been removed yet, holding it wasn't very comfortable.
Nodding, Eriri held Golza and said, "It's good that it has no effect, but this little guy is still wearing something, so let's not hold it for now. Go down, go play by yourself."
After putting Golza down, Eriri picked up the clothes Kaede had left on the sofa and went back to her bedroom to change.
Since he didn't participate in club activities, he came home earlier today and didn't have to prepare dinner immediately. So, Kaede first sent a message to Sawamura Sayuri, informing her about Eriri's cold.
Sawamura Sayuri didn't show much concern after learning about it. Over the past year, she had come to understand Kaede well and knew that he would definitely take good care of Eriri. So she only mentioned that she would call Eriri in the evening.
Eriri, who had changed her clothes and came out of her room, saw Kaede sitting on the sofa with his phone and asked curiously, "Kaede-kun, is something wrong?"
"No," Kaede shook his head and said, "I just sent a message to Aunt Sayuri, telling her about your cold, Eriri."
"Huh? You told Mom?"
Eriri said unexpectedly, "There's no need, it's just a small cold. Mom isn't making a big fuss, is she?"
"No, she just told me to take good care of you."
Kaede waved to Eriri, motioning for her to come and sit down, then said, "It's just a small cold, not a fever or anything. Just be a little careful, and you'll recover quickly."
"That's right, my body is fine! Ah... Achoo~~~"
After saying that, she sneezed, then rubbed her nose innocently.
"Well... that's not my fault, something floated into my nose, it must be Cat fur, yes, Cat fur!"
He felt as if the Cats in the house were unexpectedly caught in the crossfire.
After resting in the living room for a while, Kaede first sent Eriri back to the studio to do her homework. With a cold, her drawing state certainly couldn't compare to usual, so it was better to finish her homework early and then rest early.
Just as he said in the morning, because Eriri had a cold and couldn't eat anything too greasy or spicy, Kaede passed on all fried dishes, made some simple dishes, and then made a fish soup.
Although the taste was still great, Eriri had been talking about fried chicken pieces since the morning. Now that she couldn't eat them, she was definitely disappointed.
Adding a chopstick full of shredded pork with celtuce, Eriri ate and said seriously, "When my cold is gone, Kaede-kun, we have to make fried chicken pieces, fried chicken drumsticks, and fried chicken cutlets! And we also have to eat barbecue, grilled meat!"
"All fried, heavy oil?"
Kaede said with a smile, "Aren't you afraid of getting inflamed from eating too much? Aren't you afraid of canker sores?"
"I don't care!" Eriri tilted her head and said, "This cold means I definitely can't eat them for at least a week. How can I stand that? I'll definitely make up for it when I'm better! I don't care about getting inflamed, and canker sores don't matter!"
"Alright~~~" Kaede nodded and said, "If you're not afraid, then I'll make them for you. But I'm telling you in advance, don't come to me later, covering your mouth and acting coquettish."
"Hmph! I won't!"
Although she said that, Eriri was still a little nervous inside. She had had canker sores before, and they were indeed very uncomfortable.
"Hmm, I'll prepare myself mentally then, eat slowly, and there shouldn't be any problems. And get some drinks that can reduce inflammation!"
Her little calculations in her mind were clattering... Time came to night.
After finishing her homework, Eriri, for once, reviewed her lessons with Kaede. With Kaede's explanations, she learned a little something.
Closing her textbook, Eriri stretched, squinting her eyes and saying, "Ah~~~ I'm tired. Sure enough, after getting a cold, one's spirit is not quite the same as usual. I've decided, I won't draw today, I feel like I won't draw well. Kaede-kun, I'm going to take a bath now!"
"Alright, go ahead."
Kaede tidied up the things on the table and asked, "Is taking a bath by yourself okay? Do you need me to help you scrub your back?"
Eriri glared at Kaede with a flushed face: "Hmph, no need! Kaede-kun definitely wants to bully me!"
Saying that, she stood up, taking her phone with her.
"I'm going to call Mom while I'm soaking in the bath, Kaede-kun, don't suddenly come in, okay?"
"Don't worry, I won't. But don't soak for too long, it's not good if the water gets cold."
"Got it~~~~~~"
Humming a tune, Eriri ran out of the studio, got a change of clothes from the bedroom, and went to take a bath.
Fortunately, Eriri also knew she had a cold now, and unlike usual, she didn't spend half an hour bathing. She simply soaked for a while, finished her call with Sawamura Sayuri, and came out.
When it was Kaede's turn to finish bathing and return to the room, he discovered an unexpected situation.
That was, there were two futons on the bed.
"Hmm? What's this all about?"
Eriri was already lying in one futon, playing with her phone, and said, "Isn't this obvious? I have a cold, and while it won't spread to the Cats in the house, it's still very easy to spread to you, Kaede-kun, so let's sleep separately for now!"
Although Eriri's explanation was well-reasoned and convincing, Kaede still felt a little depressed.
"It's not that serious, it's just a small cold. Taking some medicine tonight will make it better quickly. Let's remove the extra futon."
"No!"
Eriri put her phone aside, pressed her hands onto the futon next to her, and said with a serious face, "Kaede-kun, you can't get sick, otherwise what will we do if both of us in the house have a cold?"
"..."
He really had a headache.
