At those words Xavier's eyes narrowed slightly, a look of suspicion clear on his face.
He did not take Zerin's words at their face value at all; if it was not for the familiar contract, he would not even have bothered listening to her explanation.
Still not completely believing, he continued to listen. At this stage he needed as much information as possible; now that Zerin was spilling the beans, there was no need to stop her.
However, when she started to wander away from the topic, Xavier internally snorted to remind her.
