Zerin, Jack, and Rufus cleared the nearby goblins in short order, leaving the battlefield around them open and eerily quiet.
Xavier was still focused on searching for that mysterious woman, so he didn't notice that the Undead Chimera's gigantic corpse was behaving in a strange way. The threads of undead energy that had been tethering together hundreds of goblin corpses slowly loosened, their retreat deliberate and subtle, causing almost no disturbance.
Even though the distance between Xavier and the chimera's body wasn't that great, he still failed to notice anything, enhanced senses or not.
Suddenly, Xavier's eyes turned alert.
Just a moment ago, he had felt someone looking at him, but when he turned around there was nothing—except the cold and dull corpse of the Undead Chimera.
"Huh… was I imagining things?"
This question had barely surfaced in his mind when he saw a blur shooting in his direction.
