In terms of speed, Devion was much superior to Khal. However, he did not use his maximum speed but was just a bit ahead of Khal.
This was intentional, as Ayen was with him; he could not overwhelm him. Khal was also behind them, putting obstructions on their path, slowing down the whirlpool.
By now, not only did they constantly multiply, but some of them were beginning to merge. They also became faster.
Devion cursed again.
If it were a monster, then they could fight, but handling whirlpools was a pain in the ass. Unless they could counter it.
They could only run for now and figure out what to do after.
Khal's expression was still composed as he put wall after wall everywhere they passed by. Ayen held tightly to Devion.
