(The Next Day, at the Royal Library)
A massive pile of heavy, leather-bound books and sprawling parchment maps covers the grand oak desk in front of me. For the last few hours, I have been aggressively flipping through every single geographical text I can get my hands on.
Kael shifts his weight slightly behind me.
"My Lady," he says softly, his deep voice echoing in the vast, quiet library. "It has been quite a while since you last visited the Royal Library. Is there a specific piece of information you need? Perhaps I could assist you in finding the right section?"
"Shh, Kael! Just stand on guard and don't disturb me!" I whisper-shout, not taking my eyes off the page as I rapidly scan through a thick encyclopedia on this world's mountain ranges.
I can't just suddenly ask out of nowhere about a highly specific, freezing, jagged mountain! I groan internally, pushing a stray lock of silver hair out of my face.
