"Is this how you welcome your Empire's Eternal Guardian, Sir Kaelen?" Rhaegor asks smoothly, blowing a small ring of smoke.
I quickly jump up from my seat, staring at my knight in absolute shock. "Kael, what are you doing?! Why are you raising your sword against Mr. Rhaegor?!"
Kael doesn't lower his weapon. His eyes remain intensely locked onto the dragon.
"There is no killing intent or offensive spell being charged," Kael says, his voice dangerously low and protective. "But for the Skyfire Tyrant, the Great Rhaegor himself, to suddenly leave his cavern and appear right in front of you, My Lady? It is highly suspicious."
I let out a massive sigh and literally slap my own forehead. What kind of insane overprotectiveness is this?! He is ready to go to war with a dragon!
Rhaegor just chuckles, a deep, rumbling sound in his chest. "I didn't appear out of thin air for no reason, Sir Kaelen. It is simply because my dearest explicitly wished to meet me."
