(Next Morning)
The morning air was crisp, biting through the thin layers of my travel gear until I pulled on the heavy coat. Elin stood back, looking me over with a grin that was far too wide for this time of day.
"You look really good, Your Highness," she chirped, adjusting the lapel of my coat. "If you were a man, every woman in the Empire would have fallen for you!"
"Eh!!! Do I really look that good? Hehehe!" I giggled, giving her a quick spin in front of the full-length mirror. I had traded my silk gowns for a crisp white shirt tucked into sturdy brown pants and boots. Over it all was a thick, chocolate-brown coat that reached my knees. I tucked my long silver hair into a neat bun and pulled a matching newsboy hat low over my brow.
I looked less like an Imperial Consort and more like a dashing young explorer from a 1920s adventure novel.
