Sonia and Kelvin nodded. "We'll wait outside," Kelvin said, turning on his heel and gently pulling Sonia along with him.
Alex nodded, but just as they were about to leave, his voice sounded behind them, halting them in their tracks.
"Sonia… I hope we see you again," he said, his tone unusually gentle.
He didn't know why, but something about her made him want to speak—just one more time.
Sonia paused and glanced back at him, her face flickering with a faint trace of curiosity.
"I heard her name was Sonia… I'm sorry if my name reminded you of her."
Alex exhaled slowly, as though the air itself weighed heavily in his chest. "It does," he admitted quietly. "In more ways than you can imagine. It's just that…"
His words trailed off. He shook his head, unable to continue.
Because how could he say it?
How could he confess that he had always cheated on her while pretending to be the perfect husband?
That he had always chosen her best friend over her?
