"…The boss and the lady's private jet was involved in a crash…"
The words echoed off the polished walls of the Long estate.
Long, thirteen years old at the time, stood frozen in his spot. His body refused to move, and not just externally—his internal organs seemed under the same spell, as air failed to enter his lungs.
His consciousness seemed to have shifted into another world. He was numb.
His eyes saw, but didn't register anything happening around him.
Only one thought repeated over and over in his head:
Mom and dad are not coming back.
His head pounded, almost as loud as his heart, as his eyes slowly clouded over. He felt a weight on him, something other than the emotional weight he was carrying.
